"" >Freealongside ship" ("Freely along the side of the vessel") means that the seller is considered to have fulfilled his obligation to deliver whenproductit is placed along the side of the vessel nominated by the buyer (i.e. on the berth or barge agreed in the contract) in the agreed port of shipment. Riskthe loss or damage of the goods passes when the goods are located along the side of the vessel, and from that moment the buyer bears all costs.
It is recommended that the Parties determine the loading point most accurately at the named port of shipment, since the costs and risks up to this point are borne by the seller, and such costs and associated processing costs may differ according to port practice.
The terms of delivery are applicable for goods transported in bulk and in containers. It can be coal, construction cargo, ore, grains, cereals, etc. When placing goods in containers, it is typical for the seller to transfer the goods to the carrier at the terminal, and not by placing them along the side of the vessel. In such situations, it is advisable to use the term FCA.
FAS requires the seller to perform customs clearance of the goods for export.
When delivering on FAS terms, the seller has a more advantageous position – it has minimal risks and obligations.
Of course, this list is not complete and depends on the specific case, but, under these conditions of delivery, the logistics of the buyer can most significantly prove themselves and bring additional profit using an intermodal delivery.
